APPT Macau ready to rock

Written by Ben Blaschke

One of the most popular stops on the Asia-Pacific tournament circuit gets underway at the PokerStars LIVE room at City of Dreams today with the opening event of APPT Macau.

APPT Macau might not be the biggest event held in the PokerStars LIVE room each year but for many involved it is by far the most special. It was, after all, the tournament that started it all for Macau and to this day remains the longest running annual poker tournament in all of Asia, having been held each and every year since that maiden event in 2007.

This year’s series features 12 APOY events highlighted by the HK$25,000 Main Event starting next Wednesday 21 May. Last year’s event attracted a field of 388 players, with Alexandre Chieng becoming the first Chinese player to win an APPT event on his way to collecting the HK$2,165,000, and judging by the huge field at the recent Macau Millions and Macau Poker Cup we should see another jump in player numbers this week.

Other events of note on the schedule include the HK$5,000 NLHE tournament with a HK$1 million guarantee, the HK$9,000 6-max and the HK$100,000 High Rollers.
