APT returns to Cambodia

Written by Ben Blaschke

The Asian Poker Tour continues to expand its borders with the latest stop of this year’s popular tournament series taking place in Cambodia from mid-next week. Having first been held in the south-east Asian kingdom in late 2013, the APT skipped the Cambodian leg last year but returns at a brand new venue in 2014 at the recently-opened poker room of the Queenco Casino and Hotel in Sihanoukville.

APT Cambodia will feature 13 side events ranging from the extremely bankroll friendly US$100 “Welcome to APT” opening event on 23 July to a US$2,300 High Rollers event. However, all eyes will be on the US$1,000 Main Event.

Two years ago, APT Cambodia attracted a starting field of 122 players – creating a prize pool of US$118,340 – with Vietnam’s Ha Duong prevailing to take home the US$30,200 first prize.

Among those confirmed to be attending next week is two-time APT Player of the Year Sam Razavi, who finished fifth at this event two years ago and will be looking both to improve on that close call and improve his position in the 2014 APT Player of the Year standings.

The 2014 APT Cambodia main event starts on Saturday 26 July.
