Australia’s Greyhound Racing NSW has charged 179 trainers and owners for breaching regulatory rules following an investigation into the illegal selling of greyhounds to Macau, according to ABC News.
It follows a highly-publicized episode of the ABC’s Four Corners last December that revealed Australian trainers and owners were ignoring a 2013 ban on the exportation of greyhounds to Macau.
If found guilty, the 179 accused will face a fine, suspension or disqualification from the racing industry.
It has previously been reported that dogs being raced at the controversial Canidrome are subject to terrible conditions, over-worked and euthanized when injured 100 percent of the time.
