Baccarat to blame for latest Nevada gaming decline

Written by Ben Blaschke

A decline in the performance of baccarat has been blamed for a dip in gaming revenues across Nevada over the past six months, according to the latest report from Nevada’s Center for Gaming Research.

Gaming revenue statewide is down 1.4 percent in that period with table games the main cause having dropped by 6.88 percent. The Las Vegas Strip was the worst performing location, down 4.1 percent overall thanks to a 9.59 percent drop in table games largely attributed to the volatility of baccarat.

Slot machines provided some relief, with revenue up 3.79 percent on the Strip and 3.08 percent statewide.

Downtown Las Vegas was actually the best performing location with gaming revenues up 6.37 percent across the board.
