The poker world tends to come to a grinding halt in July as all eyes focus on Las Vegas and the World Series of Poker, but with the November Nine now decided (the final nine players in the WSOP main event return in November to decide the champion) it is quickly back to business as usual.

That’s great news for players in the Asia Pacific region with a number of big events coming up over the coming weeks. If there is one thing we can lay claim to down in this part of the world it’s that we are spoiled for choice!

Macau is preparing to host two significant events in the space of a matter of weeks, starting with APT Macau from 24 July to 31 July (with the main event from 27 July) at StarWorld. 2013 represents the fourth running of this popular event and with a whopping 14 side events there will be something for everyone.

Just over a week later, the latest running of the Macau Poker Cup gets underway headed by the HK$11,000 Red Dragon main event from 14 August. This will be the second time the Macau Poker Cup has been held at the new PokerStars LIVE room at City of Dreams, with the inaugural event in April attracting a mammoth field of 891 starters.

Squeezed in between the two Macau events is a tournament that could lay claim to being the most picturesque on the Asia Pacific poker scene – APPT Queenstown Snowfest on New Zealand’s South Island. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains and renowned for its many adventure sports, Queenstown is one of the world’s top holiday destinations so even if you bust early there will be plenty to keep you occupied in the meantime. The main event kicks off on 30 July, culminating on 4 August.

And before the month is out, the next leg of the APT takes place in Korea from 18 August to 23 August with a short and sharp six day schedule. It’s a busy time but what better way to rack up those frequent flyer miles than playing a bit of poker?
