Big Jim’s tip for 19 May: Wigan

It’s the last day of the Premiership, which means that all teams kick off at the same time on the same day for their final game of the season. I really like this tradition and it’s nice that they haven’t bowed to television networks and international audiences and butchered this wonderful day. It’s a great day of football with plenty for many clubs to play for even though the Red Devils celebrated their Premiership weeks to go.

Regardless of what Wigan does or doesn’t have to play for this afternoon I think they will come out and celebrate their FA Cup success in front of their home fans. They should close out Aston Villa’s very ordinary season by handing the Birmingham team another loss away from Villa Park.
