Big Jim's tip for 6 April: Tiger Woods

Written by James Potter

The usual format for a golf tournament is to run four days from a Thursday to a Sunday. Golfers play in the same threesome for the first two days. After Friday’s play is complete, the worst players are “cut” from the tournament and the remaining players are reassigned into pairs based on their prevailing leader board positions. The golfers stay in those assigned pairings on the Saturday and the Sunday.

A “three ball” bet is a bet on one golfer to finish in front of the other two golfers he is playing with on a Thursday or Friday, that is “before the cut”. A “two ball” bet is a similar bet, but “after the cut” on a Saturday or Sunday when the players are playing in pairs, so a two ball bet is a head-to-head match up between two players for the day.

Tiger is in a tough group at this year’s Masters playing with Miguel Angel Jimenez and Sang-Moon Bae but I think day two will be Tiger’s day.
