Big Jim's weekend preview

Written by James Potter

The EPL is in limbo for another weekend as the FA Cup fourth round matchups take center stage. Watch out for a few upsets. We aren’t deep enough into this competition for the Premier League teams to really care about it yet, so look for teams from Division One to come out with all guns blazing. It’s not the greatest football going around, but for all you round-ball fanatics it’s something to watch.

It’s finals time in the Australian Open and the cream of the crop will battle it out for the only thing that matters in tennis, a Grand Slam title. There are no certainties at this stage of the tournament so take a stance and make sure to shop around for a good price.

The Farmers Insurance Open should be a great tournament as some of the best players return to the US PGA Tour. I really like Tiger this weekend but the likes of Phil Mickelson will keep the great man honest.

One event not worth watching this weekend is the farce they call the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Last year’s match was the worst I have ever seen with Cam Newton putting on a disgraceful show which left American football fans scratching their heads. Even though the game is only a glorified exhibition match, it should be played seriously.

If you want some action from the US, tune into the basketball or start getting ready for the Super Bowl. Buy some beer and some hot dogs and plan a party for the biggest day in American sport, where heroes are made and legends are born.

Good luck and good punting.
