Big Jim’s weekend preview

Written by James Potter

The start of the best rugby league competition in the world, the NRL, will be a highlight this weekend. We can expect plenty of big hits and lots of tight games. Rugby league is the type of sport in which even an average game is watchable – something that cannot be said about most football codes. I am getting behind the Storm, Roosters, Broncos, Warriors, Panthers, Cowboys, Sharks and Tigers all at the line this week.

The golf should be great this weekend with only the top 50 in the world invited to the event. Aussie Geoff Ogilvy just scraped into the tournament after his second place finish at the Honda Championship last weekend. There is plenty of money and extra FedEx Cup points on offer, so bring on the Blue Monster.

It’s going to be another huge weekend of rugby with the Six Nations Championship from Europe and the Super 15 from down South. Scotland hosting Wales is the pick of the international games with a resurgent Scotland trying to keep their impressive season going and the Welsh looking to set up a blockbuster against the English at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff next weekend. I reckon the Welsh will come out on top here.

There is EPL football, cricket from New Zealand, horse racing from Hong Kong as they look towards next weekend’s Group 1 derby and plenty of group racing from Australia. There is also NBA basketball, NHL ice hockey and Indian Wells tennis – what more could a sports lover want?

Good luck and good punting.
