Big Jim's weekend preview

Written by James Potter

The biggest event in world sport this weekend is the US Masters. Make sure you read my Masters preview posted here earlier this week, but just in case you weren’t sure it all comes down to Tiger Woods. If you think Woods is due to break his majors drought then take the time to search around for a good price and cross your fingers. If you’re not so sure then it might be best to look for value elsewhere … but make sure you back them each way. Either way, you will find me parked on the couch!

There are some cracking AFL games again this weekend. My line/handicap/spread bets are Fremantle, West Coast, GWS, Geelong, Richmond, Hawthorn, Adelaide and finally North Melbourne who I think can cover the line against premiers Sydney with a handy +10.5 start.

In the NRL, the highlight is the showdown between the undefeated Rabbitohs and the Storm. Many believe this will be a preview of the 2013 grand final and on present form it’s hard to argue. This is going to be one hell of a game and all I can say is GO THE BUNNIES!!! Again, here are my line/handicap/spread bets for this week’s games – the Cowboys, Roosters, Knights, Raiders, Rabbitohs, Sea Eagles, Tigers and Titans.

It will be a huge day of racing in Sydney on Saturday and I love the two favourites in the Derby and the Doncaster. Dundeel and Pierro will both start short but they should both win and win easily. The basketball is getting serious, as is the hockey for you US sports fans. The baseball has also started and I will do a review of the season as soon as they settle down and get a few games under their belt (after all they have nearly 150 to get through before they even start the playoffs!) But hey, too much sport is never enough.

Good luck and good punting.
