Big Jim's weekend preview

Written by James Potter

It’s finally all over for Wigan and now it’s time for Sunderland and Aston Villa fans to finally let out that long awaited sigh. Justice was probably served but all of the teams in the bottom half of the table can consider themselves lucky.

The game that really matters this weekend is Newcastle v Arsenal. Tottenham should beat Sunderland at home so Arsenal will need to beat the Magpies to secure their spot in the Champions League next year. Tottenham and Everton had their chances this year to play in Europe next season but at the end of the day close enough isn’t good enough.

The basketball is going to get very interesting this weekend as both New York and Oklahoma City try to claw their way back into their perspective series. It felt like it was only going to be a matter of time for the Knicks but Oklahoma has been downright ordinary. It appears those Grizzlies are the real deal; who would have thought?

There is plenty of tennis, golf and local footy from the Asia Pacific region this week, which will all become the focus now that the football in Europe is coming to the end of another long season.

Good luck and good punting.
