Big Jim’s weekend preview

Written by James Potter

For all of you petrol heads in Asia, this weekend is the Holy Grail. Formula 1 finally hits our shores as the fastest men on four wheels tear it up at the Japanese Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel looks unstoppable at the moment and it will take a Herculean effort for someone to stop him notching yet another win. If you prefer two wheels, Malaysia is the place to be and I will be cheering on Dani Pedrosa as the battle of the Spaniards continues.

With both the AFL and NRL seasons now over, lovers of football from “Down Under” can get back to fixing the back porch or taking the kids to the park, but there won’t be much rest for the wicked as the Spring Racing Carnival approaches and we await the arrival of England for the next installment of the Ashes cricket.

The American sporting landscape is about to go into overdrive with the last few months of the year always the most hectic in their professional sporting calendar. The baseball playoffs have just started, the American football (both pro and college) is in full swing and those crazy men of the ice are also back. And when the NBA gets back underway at the end of the month we’ll have a full roster on our hands!

Me? I’m looking forward to Week 6 of the NFL and plenty of Group 1 racing from Australia this weekend as I put the feet up and get ready for a few more days in front of the TV.

Good luck and good punting.
