Big Jim’s weekend preview

The NBA Championship is heading to an exciting conclusion. There are plenty of twists and turns left in this series, and both the Thunder and the Heat are capable of being two or three games down and coming back to win.

Euro 2012 really starts to heat up this weekend as the quarterfinals get underway. The tournament has been pretty exciting so far, and there have been some huge upsets such as the World Cup runners-up, the Dutch, not qualifying for the knockout stage. I am still not convinced about the Germans, and watch out for the Spanish because if they make the final they should start long odds-on.

There isn’t much happening in the world of golf and tennis this weekend but Wimbledon, the greatest tennis tournament of them all, kicks off on Monday. The men’s draw looks like a three-horse race with Murray the fourth pick as usual. Djokovic looks hard to beat and will be keen to assert himself after losing to Nadal in the French Open.

If you’re looking for a wild card try to pick someone with a big serve. In my opinion, Tsonga, Berdych and Del Potro have the best chance of getting past the big three. If you back them and they get through to the semis you can make a huge profit by then betting on the other three to make the semis.

We have a great weekend ahead in Australian Rules football, and to all you uninitiated, it’s about time you got into it! Last weekend the games were predictable but this weekend every game will be worth watching. Collingwood and the Bulldogs should be too strong for their opponents, and I believe Fremantle and North Melbourne are the best underdogs to back.

Good luck and good punting.
