Big Jim's weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

The West Indies completed an impressive World Twenty20 campaign with a gutsy win over Sri Lanka in the final. I love T20 cricket but the organization of the game still needs a lot of work. Still, the Windies’ victory was great news for the game of cricket in general. The once great cricketing nation has struggled in recent times to be competitive, and even though they may continue to struggle in the test arena they have found a niche in T20 cricket where they can excel.

In an amazing game of American football, the Indianapolis Colts came from nowhere and defeated the Green Bay Packers. The Colts looked dead and buried at halftime but thanks to their new gun quarterback Mr Luck they managed a fairytale ending. The Colts’ coach must have been over the moon as he watched the game from hospital where he’s fighting leukemia. The Cheeseheads were disgraceful in the second half after leading 21-3 – sometimes it seems as if they just don’t care. I hope they miss the playoffs.

There were no surprises in the EPL this weekend. The big guns are starting to flex their muscles as they work their way into the season. This is the usual script for the EPL as it takes time for superstars to learn the workings of their new clubs before they begin to move into overdrive. We now head into another two-week break so football fans are going to have to be patient.

Good luck and good punting.
