Big Jim’s weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

In sad news, the amount of evidence mounting against Lance Armstrong continues to grow. The cancer survivor and seven-time Tour de France winner now appears to have been a drug cheat. The cycling world is in turmoil and I will address this issue in more detail in the weeks to come.

It’s playoff time and over the next few weeks four teams will battle it out for the Major League Baseball World Series title. The Yankees will take on the Tigers and the Giants will take on the Cardinals. The bookies are really struggling to separate any of them.

It’s times like these you need to shop around for a good price. You should be able to get around 3/1 (or $4.00) for any of these teams to win the World Series. The Tigers are slight favorites due to the Verlander factor and the Cardinals have marginally longer odds due to their draining series against the Nationals. My advice would be to pick a team, shop for a price and enjoy. It’s a best of seven game series so you’ll get plenty of bang for your buck.

We were treated to some great games in American football over the weekend. The Pittsburgh Steelers disappointed by handing the Tennessee Titans a victory. The Steelers were badly coached and their once-heralded defense came up short when it mattered most. Detroit and the Jets both recorded much-needed wins to get their seasons back on track.

I had a bad weekend with no luck in horse racing, football, golf or the NFL. Sometimes you have to roll with the punches and just take your medicine. The great thing about sports betting is that we’ll get another chance next weekend.

Good luck and good punting.
