Big Jim's weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

The All Blacks played the Wallabies in Brisbane on Saturday night in what turned out to be a try-less draw. It was a lackluster affair in hot, humid conditions unsuited to rugby. However, on a positive note, the game celebrated the great careers of Keven Mealamu who played his hundredth test for the All Blacks, and Nathan Sharpe who played his last test for the Wallabies on home soil. You won’t find better than these two champions of the sport who always bring their best game.

There were plenty of goals in the EPL over the weekend. You’ll hear no complaints from me about that. Who wants to see nil-all draws? Arsenal provided the obligatory upset by losing to Norwich City. The Gunners appear to be great at times but you can only be as good as your worst, and their worst is pretty terrible.

The MLB World Series is nearly upon us and Detroit is waiting anxiously to see if they’re going to play St Louis or San Francisco. The Giants looked all but finished, but a gutsy away win from them in Game 5 has breathed new life into the series. Both teams will now travel west where it will be up to the Cardinals to win one of two games at the Bay.

The San Francisco 49ers appear to be back on track in the NFL after grinding it out against the Seahawks. Their offence led by Alex Smith still looked scratchy at best but a great defense will always win you plenty of games. They also face stern opposition next week when they meet Arizona.

Good luck and good punting.
