Big Jim’s weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

England have been simply awesome against India in the cricket! The star-studded team from the subcontinent was bamboozled in the second Test by a couple of Brits who have proven their critics wrong. Kevin Pietersen scored 186 from 233 balls in a crushing innings that showed he is capable of winning Test matches with his own bat. Monty Panesar also showed he is still a force to be reckoned with at the highest level. The English crowd favorite has struggled to find a place in the team lately, but has grabbed this opportunity with both hands.

Chelsea and Man City played out a dour nil-all draw on the weekend. It was one of those games in which both clubs were probably relieved to come away with a point. Tottenham and Man United were the big movers, both recording comfortable 3-1 wins at home.

Don’t write off the G-men – they have stormed back to their best form and dismantled the Green Bay Packers! When the Giants are hot they look unbeatable. It usually takes them until mid-season to get going, but once that defense starts to click, they look like clear Super Bowl favorites. The 49ers and the Bears have also shown they are looking towards the playoffs, both recording big wins over strong teams.

Rory McIlroy won another golf tournament over the weekend, this time at the final of the European PGA tour in Dubai. He finished in front of Justin Rose, who shot an incredible 62 in his last round to take the lead. Rory calmly finished with five birdies in a performance which confirms he is one of the best. He is starting to display the kind of mental strength and ability Tiger showed in his prime.

Good luck and good punting.
