Big Jim’s weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

It has been a strange weekend in the EPL. Everton had a great result and gave us a very nice collect after beating Manchester City. Tottenham and Liverpool both suffered horrible losses proving there may still be some dramas in the middle of the table regarding who goes to Europe next year. Wigan and Aston Villa were the big winners in the race to avoid relegation – a battle which now appears to be all but over for Reading and QPR with Wigan desperately chasing Villa, Southampton and Sunderland. West Ham and Newcastle should be safe but are both suffering horrible ends to their seasons.

In the rugby, the Welsh reign again in Europe as the number one Northern Hemisphere team. They were awesome against a pathetic English team on their way to their Six Nations victory. The British and Irish Lions will be traveling to take on the Australians later this year, and I dare say a healthy chunk of the Welsh team will make up the squad. In the Super 15 competition, the Brumbies, the Force and the Cheetahs were the big winners over the weekend.

Akeed Mofeed got the job done for us in Group 1 racing with an impressive victory in the Hong Kong Derby this weekend. In golf, Sergio Garcia would have capped off a nice week for us but fell one shot shy of a top four finish at Innisbrook Resort, and it was a fairytale victory for Kevin Streelman who has fought hard for his maiden PGA Tour win. Rafael Nadal is back playing great tennis, the Heat are just awesome in the NBA and my smokies for the NRL the Wests Tigers and the Gold Coast Titans both recorded much-needed wins. All in all it’s been a good weekend for Big Jim and for all those who follow the good oil.

Good luck and good punting.
