Big Jim's weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

It was nice to be on a roll with the rugby league last weekend with convincing handicap wins with the Bulldogs and the Tigers. Rugby league is a good sport to bet on and I hope I can continue to back plenty of winners again this year.

How good is the Miami Heat? They are NBA freaks and with 26 consecutive wins they are on their way to breaking the Lakers’ record of 33 consecutive wins set back in 1971-72. I said at the start of the season the Heat was going to be desperately hard to beat in the playoffs. I can’t see anyone in the East getting close to them and it will probably come down to only the Spurs or Thunder to see if anyone can stop LeBron James and his boys from having one of the most dominant seasons in the history of the sport.

The AFL season kicked off with a split round with two games played last weekend and the rest to kick off this weekend. This is a growing trend in a lot of sports and I for one think it is stupid. Opening round should be celebrated with all teams playing and fans being treated to a full schedule of games. In my opinion the AFL administration tries to over-think too many of their decisions when they should just be happy their product is so good!

Tiger Woods has to wait another day to try to reclaim the No.1 world ranking because of bad weather at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill but he is the best front runner in the business and you wouldn’t want to back against him. Black Cavier won again, Sebastian Vettel won the F1 Grand Prix in Malaysia and there was plenty of action in the Rugby Union too which just proves that too much sport is never enough. We aren’t complaining.

Good luck and good punting.
