Big Jim’s weekend wrap

Written by James Potter

NBA fans have got the final they wanted: Heat v Thunder in the best of seven World Championship games. Who could ask for more? The old and tired Celtics were brave to take their Conference finals to seven games, but when LeBron James got serious the Heat were in a different class.

The Thunder are younger, stronger and better than anyone Miami has seen up to this point in the finals. This series is hard to pick. If Miami play at their very best all the time they will win, but they have never done this before. If the Thunder handle the pressure well and play at their very best they could easily rain on the Heat’s parade. Everyone outside of Miami (including me) will be cheering for the Thunder, but tread with care … this is going to be a tough game!

There has been a huge upset in football with Denmark’s shock win against the Dutch. Strikes rained down on the Danish goal but the Dutch failed to put one away and a split second of brilliance won the game for Denmark. Spain let us down against Italy, but don’t worry about them, I can assure you they’ll be back. Croatia also appears to be back in form after some years of disappointing results.

The New Jersey Devils are like a splinter you just can’t get out of your hand. It seemed as though the Kings were going to crush their East Coast rivals but the Devils fought back and only need to win the last two games to lift the Stanley Cup. I am going to remain strong, and bet the Kings will wrap it up early this week.

In golf, young gun Rory McIlroy hasn’t been in the best of form recently. Still, don’t lose hope in the kid. He is a top ten ranked player and is very young. He will win plenty of tournaments in the future.

Good luck and good punting.
