Big Jim’s weekend wrap

So the Heat finally got the job done, but it was hard work. Tony Parker and the rest of the Spurs put up one hell of a fight but Lebron was the difference – especially in Game 7 where he really controlled things with the help of Dwayne Wade. That’s two in a row for the Heat and they might not be finished yet either.

The Lions just got over the top of the Wallabies in the first Test and to be truthful should have really lost the game. The Wallabies backline was predictably a rabble with no one really knowing where they should play other than Will Genia and Test debutant Israel Folau. The Aussies had a terrible night with the boot and still only just went down. I will be sticking with the Lions for the rest of the tour even though they were far from their best in the first Test.

Speaking of Lions, it was the Brisbane Lions‘ comeback win against the Geelong Cats in the AFL that was the highlight of my weekend. In the third quarter the Lions looked like they were going to be blown out of the water when they were down by a massive 52 points at one stage but in an incredible performance they managed to fight their way back into the game before kicking the winning goal after the siren. It was one of sport’s great moments but a dark day for the Cats who consistently go into neutral when they build up big leads.

We have been a tad unlucky with the golf in recent weeks. Padraig Harrington was on fire in the first two rounds, shooting 66 in consecutive rounds to be near the top of the leaderboard, but he had a weekend that would be considered average even by a good club golfer. Ah well, that’s the nature of betting on golf – you take plenty of the bad mixed in with big pay days when you get it right.
