The World Poker Tour ventured into Korea for the first time last week with the inaugural WPT National Korea in Jeju and it was China celebrating a historic victory.
Cui Jia Bin overcame a solid field of 198 players and a tough final table to claim the KRW83,608,000 (US$70,000) first prize – using his big stack to good effect to eventually overcome 2014 WPT National China champion Eddy Liang.
The six man final table included four players from China – a great sign for the growth of tournament poker in the region.
This was also the first WPT event to be held in Asia since the company was acquired by Ourgame International Holdings in June. Korea joins Sanya and Manila as Asia’s current stops on the WPT National tour with more expected to be announced soon.
