There is never a dull moment when it comes to the Asian gaming industry, but May has traditionally been a particularly hectic month as the annual G2E Asia Conference and Exhibition comes to town.
Each year, key representatives from all sectors of gaming travel from far and wide to show off their latest products, engage in some invaluable networking opportunities and discuss the latest issues impacting the global gaming industry.
For the team here at WGM, it’s also a great chance to meet with everyone from manufacturers and distributors to various industry experts to get their take on how gaming is evolving in Macau and beyond.
It was with great interest this year that we listened to the recently appointed Director of the DICJ, Paulo Martins Chan, as he addressed the audience at G2E Asia and spelled out his vision for Macau in the near future. He is featured on our cover this issue.
We also had the opportunity to sit down with leading gaming industry analysts Aaron Fischer from CLSA Asia Pacific Markets and Grant Govertsen from Union Gaming Securities Asia to discuss what, if any, impact the next batch of properties due to open in Macau in 2016 will have. Their insights are surprising and well worth a read.
And for those wondering what exciting new products they can expect to see on Asia’s casino floors this year, check out our article on Aristocrat’s impressive new baccarat slot machines on page 40. We expect them to be a rousing success.
As always, follow the dragon,
