If there is one thing we’ve learned over the past 10 years or so, it’s that Macau is a city always evolving.
Never has that been more evident than right now. Even in the midst of Macau’s two-year downturn – albeit with an economy finally starting to stabilize – we are seeing two new integrated resorts open their doors in Cotai in the space of one month between late August and mid-September.
The first of those, Wynn Palace, is not only the most luxurious property Macau has ever seen but at US$4.2 billion also the most expensive ever built in Asia’s gaming hub. Indeed, it was hard not to be impressed when we were given a sneak peek shortly before it opened.
The second, Sands China’s Parisian, was also about to launch when we went to print with its highly anticipated French theming and a whopping 3,000 hotel rooms adding even more spring to Macau’s tourist step.
At the same time, there seems to be endless construction going on across the city – from the light rail that is slowly but surely taking shape to the next batch of Cotai resorts to various upgrades to the road network. There are, we’re told, around 400 roadworks projects currently underway.
There is evolution taking place in the Wold Gaming Group offices too. As well as preparing to debut some brand new titles, WGM is set to undergo an exciting makeover of its own in 2017 with a new-look magazine featuring even more of the many wondrous sights and sounds around us.
But we don’t want to give too much away just yet!
As always, follow the dragon,
