There is a lot to feel good about in Macau right now. With Autumn bringing with it cooler and much more pleasant temperatures, it’s the perfect time to welcome the world with international events such as this November’s MGS Entertainment Show and of course the Macau Grand Prix.
December will also ring in the inaugural Macau International Film Festival & Awards, where a selection of Asian and international films will be aired from some of the world’s best current and up-and-coming artists. It certainly promises to become one of Macau’s most important annual events.
Those attractions aside, there is another reason that spirits have been lifted with the outlook for Macau’s gaming industry suddenly much brighter than it was just a few short months ago. Having seen revenues plummet by almost 50 percent following 26 consecutive months of year-on- year decline, the tables have suddenly turned again with three months of upward momentum. A small 1.1 percent rise in August was followed by a more substantial 7.4 percent increase in September and 8.8 percent in October.
Playing their part were Macau’s two new properties – the luxurious Wynn Palace and French-themed The Parisian – which seem to have adequately captured the public’s imaginations.
Exciting times indeed for this fascinating little part of the world.
As always, follow the dragon,
