Apparently a real summer does exist in Britain after all. After 10 days of unbroken sunshine over most of the country, The Brits happily feel they are now in the midst of a scorching summer. Meanwhile, the EPL transfer market is also heating up.

We’re still a month from the start of the new season and most of the EPL top clubs are in the midst of their global tours, but being a long way from home doesn’t prevent them from conducting their transfer business. Arsenal has shown their strong interest in Liverpool’s Luis Suárez by bidding for him twice. After their first bid of £30 million was instantly turned down, they lodged a bigger £35 million bid in the hope of swaying the Red’s determination. There still is some distance to the Red’s £40 million valuation on their striker, but Arsenal is drawing closer.

In an interview in Bangkok a few days ago, David Moyes revealed that one or two players in the midfield would be sufficient for the Red Devils this summer. Unfortunately, their top target Thiago snubbed Manchester United and moved to Bayern Munich instead. United quickly switched their focus to another Barcelona midfielder, Cesc Fàbregas, by lodging a £26 million bid but that remains well under Barca’s valuation of the former Arsenal player. A further bid is expected in the coming days as Moyes wants to secure his top target as soon as possible. Another midfielder on Moyes’ radar is his old pal Fellaini from Everton. The Belgian is understood to have a £22.5 million release clause in his contract.

New Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini suffered a loss on his debut in charge against South Africa’s Supersport, but the Chilean also welcomed some good news. It is reported that a deal has been agreed between City and Fiorentina for striker Stevan Jovetic at £27 million, with a medical conducted in Florence on Monday. It is another crazy summer for City in terms of spending as they have already splashed as much as £80 million for three new players. But Pellegrini is determined to continue his spending with Sevilla’s Alvaro Negredo his next target to reinforce City’s attacking options.
