The World Cup. Amazing how quickly four years rolls around again. And in Brazil no less – it’s the King of World Cups. This will be huge, the greatest sporting event the world has ever seen. Olympics – bah, humbug. With Brazil in the totally wrong time zone for us here in China, we can all look forward to plenty of sleepless nights. It all begins in the middle of the night at 04:00 China time on Friday 13 June. Turn to page 12 to get stuck into our 41 pages of everything you need to know to be an instant expert.
At 120 pages this issue of WGM is the largest ever published – almost double the size of our early issues over four years ago. How far we’ve come.
As I write this I’m on the ferry from Macau to Hong Kong on my way back to Hobart, Tasmania, where it all began for me. I did my formal schooling in Hobart but my real education began one fine Saturday evening in November 1986. I well remember walking into Australia’s first casino, Wrest Point, that night – and life was never quite the same again.
By the time you hold this issue in your hands I’ll probably be back in Macau though – preparing for World Gaming Group’s presence at G2E Asia at the Venetian Macao from 20 to 22 May. For anyone who’s interested pop along to visit us on the show floor at booth M06 or even check out the G2E conference session I’m moderating on 22 May at 13:15. Then it’s off to visit our good friends at Resorts World Manila in late June to play their Php 3 million baccarat tournament – immediately followed by the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas in early July. Someone’s got to do it!
Do not, I repeat do not miss our next issue, WGM#30 (Jul/Aug). We have someone very famous on the cover – giving us a fascinating in-depth interview. You’ll just have to wait until then to find out who!
As always, follow the dragon,
