Galaxy Double R Racing revs up for GP

Written by Yuci Tai

The Galaxy Double R Racing Team unveiled its race car at Galaxy Macau this week and will join the 60th Macau Grand Prix over the weekend. Galaxy Double R Racing features Formula 3’s only Chinese driver, Sun Zheng, the first Chinese winner of the British F3 Nation Class championship. Sun was invited to demonstrate his considerable driving skills by revving up his car’s powerful engine and peeling off across the asphalt outside Galaxy Macau’s Fortune Diamond entrance, before spinning off several “donuts” to the delight of the audience!

Teaming with Sun is Kevin Korjus of Estonia, who currently sits in third place in the ultra-competitive GP3 series and is returning for his second year behind the wheel in Macau.

Sponsored for the third year running by Galaxy Macau, the team is seeking their best result at the Macau Grand Prix.

They will be driving cars designed by Dallara – an F312 for Sun and an F313 for Korjus both sporting the distinctive golden cupola logo of Galaxy Macau – powered by a 220-horsepower Mercedes engine which can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 2.6 seconds and generate a top speed of 275kph.

With so many celebrity drivers back in town to celebrate 60 years of motor racing in Macau, CHINA ROUGE – Galaxy Macau’s exclusive private performance lounge – will be hosting an exclusive party on Friday, 15 November, where guests and glitterati can rub shoulders with racing legends in the heady, high octane atmosphere of this opulent nightspot.
