Galaxy II and Broadway to open today

Written by Ben Blaschke

All eyes will be on Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) today with the Grand Opening of their Galaxy Phase II and Broadway Macau properties in Cotai.

The first of eight new properties due to open their doors between now and 2017, it is hoped that these new offerings will spark an upturn in gaming revenue following 12 months of decline. Only last week GEG was finally informed by the Macau government that they would be allocated 150 new tables for the opening of Galaxy II, with another 50 to be brought in from their existing properties, while Broadway will have 38 tables on the floor.

Galaxy Phase II will see 1,300 new hotel rooms hit the market via their new Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott offerings. The world’s first ever all-suite Ritz-Carlton will also boast Michelin-starred restaurant 8½ Otto e Mezzo.

Broadway Macau will feature a hawker-style street market with over 40 food stalls to choose from while its gaming facilities will exclusively target mass market customers in what may well prove to be a glance into Macau’s future.
