Golf’s greatest bet!

Written by Ben Blaschke

Could this be the greatest golfing bet of all time? One incredibly insightful punter placed a multi-bet early last week on Sweden’s Henrik Stenson to win the Open Championship at Royal Troon and Australia’s Aaron Baddeley to win the Barbasol Championship in Alabama.

It was a genius bet in hindsight given that both players came through with the goods, but let’s put that into perspective first. Stenson, at 40 years old, had never won a major before. Baddeley, a PGA Tour veteran, last won a US PGA event in 2011.

The pair were paying $34 and $51 respectively which translated to odds of $1,734 when parlayed, so for his outlay of AU$50 this genius punter collected a whopping AU$86,700!

Not bad for a weekend’s work!
