Queuing in line for cakes? Yes! Kafka is almost always crowded with people craving a taste of their pastries. I arrived just after 13:00, about 15 minutes before opening time, and I was already 15th in line for a table! There are only eight kinds of cake here, but every delicate pastry has both a name and a story. It’s not uncommon for Kafka to sell out within an hour of opening. We ordered Taj Mahal, Tsujiri and In the Mood of Montmartre. Taj Mahal is made from the famed Indian Darjeeling tea soaked in sweetness of caramel. Be careful, as you may develop a taste for the love legend of Taj Mahal. Honey toast is another hot order.
If you like coffee or tea, you have come to the right place, but if you want iced lemon tea or soft drinks, I’m afraid you may need to go elsewhere. There are also three types of spaghetti on offer and of course you can use the take-away service instead of waiting in the long line.
