Good Food Guide: La Cucina

Written by The Panda

At the southern-most end of Taipa Village sits the unmistakably Italian restaurant La Cucina. Pleasantly adorned with red awnings, green shutters and some small trees bookending the entrance, The Panda was looking forward to a pleasant and relaxed meal as he waddled inside for lunch. That he got – and more. Barely had he taken a peek at the menu when the friendly staff presented him with a cold glass of complimentary champagne and mini-bruschetta to whet the appetite for the meal ahead. Now, The Panda has enjoyed his fair share of bruschetta in his time but it must be said these were by far the tastiest he had ever been served. Absolutely bursting with flavour, he was in fact about to ask for a second serve when a small garlic pizza bread arrived at the table.

It’s debatable whether providing so much complimentary food and beverage is the best business practice, but luckily The Panda was particularly hungry on this occasion and couldn’t resist the spaghetti with clams and white wine sauce. Deliciously tasty with a hint of spice, they proved a perfect counter to the humid Macau weather waiting outside. It’s rare to be looked after quite as well as they do at La Cucina and if this visit was anything to go by it’s also rare to leave hungry! Highly recommended.
