Good Food Guide: Nam Peng Café

Written by The Panda

Nam Peng Cafe is Macau’s oldest and first air-conditioned café. As if riding in a time machine back to the 1970s, the food, tables, chairs and even employees have retained a traditional café atmosphere from the early days. It is not located in a typical tourist area but is filled with guests all day anyway. The most popular food here is the Nam Peng sandwich which is made of barbecued pork, ham and eggs. It is two or three times thicker than a normal sandwich, has a strong egg taste and looks delicious.

The homemade bread and cakes are freshly baked every day and you can find an unexpected dessert in Chinese style doughnuts. They are made with eggs and flour mixed with cream, then deep fried into an egg ball. Sugar covers the top, giving it a crisp outside and soft inside with a flawless taste. There is no doubt the people who come here love the antique flavors and atmosphere.
