Hong Kong’s Alan Lau wins record Macau Poker Cup

Hong Kong’s Alan Lau has won the 26th Macau Poker Cup at PokerStars LIVE at City of Dreams, slaying a record field of 1,216 to pocket a HK$3,265,000 top prize.

Ending an eight-year drought for Hong Kong players in the prestigious event, which is also known as the Red Dragon, Lau moved to the top of the Asian rankings leaderboard with a dominant final table performance.

Lau began the final day’s play sitting second in chips behind Taiwan’s Chien Fa Chou but by the time play went heads-up he held a massive 5:1 chip lead over Chou and quickly sealed the deal to collect the biggest payday of his career.
