The 2016 World Series of Poker is well underway and the story of this year’s series so far is the appearance of former Full Tilt Poker directors Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson for the first time since Black Friday tore the poker world apart on 15 April 2011.
It had been widely speculated that Lederer would make his long-awaited return to the tables after he recently released a statement apologizing for his role in the Black Friday scandal, which saw online operators Full Tilt, PokerStars and Absolute Poker shut down and Full Tilt later accused of operating a Ponzi Scheme in which directors were paid directly out of player funds.
Lederer finally made his long-awaited return to the WSOP on Saturday in the US$10,000 2-7 Single Draw event while Ferguson’s appearance came as a particularly surprise when he sat down in the US$10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship last week.
According to PokerNews, both players refused to comment when approached by reporters during respective breaks from play.
