A record 68 Macau restaurants – including 19 with at least one coveted Michelin stars – have been featured in this year’s Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2017.
Launched in the swanky surrounds of Hong Kong’s Ritz-Carlton this week, the latest edition is the 9th for the region and sees both of Macau’s three star restaurants – Robuchon au Dôme and The Eight at Grand Lisboa – retain their elite status.
Feng Wei Ju at StarWorld and Mizumi at Wynn Macau have been awarded two stars for the first time while Lai Heen at the Ritz-Carlton, Studio City’s Pearl Dragon and Altira’s Ying have joined the list of one star establishments.
Mr Michael Ellis, International Director of Michelin Guides, said, “There is a huge boom in hotel building in Macau right now and I think the hoteliers realize that to have a competitive edge they must have fine dining, because the people that come here want to be able to eat and they want to eat in Michelin star restaurants.”
