Boasting big buy-ins and huge guaranteed prize pools, Macau Billionaire Poker returns this month for the second annual Summer Showdown.

Macau’s growing love affair with poker is set to continue this month with the second edition of the Macau Billionaire Poker (MBP)Summer Showdown at Babylon Casino.

Boasting a guaranteed prize pool of HK$20 million, the series will run for seven days from 27 July to 3 August, with a full schedule of 12 events.

The HK$28,000 buy-in Main Event, also known as the Hope Cup, kicks off on 28 July and includes three Day 1 flights. Players can enter all three flights and take their biggest stack through to Day 2 should they survive.

However, it’s the bigger buy-in events that promise to attract most attention: three separates single-day HK$100,000 events, followed by MBP’s flagship High Roller HK$500,000 Super High Roller from 2 August.

Although a relative newcomer to the Asian tournament scene, MBP is quickly making a name for itself. The recent MBP Spring Challenge in March attracted legendary poker figure and 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan, as well as high stakes specialist Tom Dwan. As runner-up in the HK$500,000 Super High Roller event, Tom Dwan took home HK$2.1 million (US$275,000).
