Macau’s MdMe announces new global gaming law practice

Written by Ben Blaschke

Leading Macau law firm MdME has announced the launch of an International Gaming Law Practice – the MLGTS Legal Circle. With leading offices in Portugal, Macau, Angola and Mozambique, the Gaming Law Practice of the MLGTS Legal Circle aims to provide specialized legal services and advice to gaming sector clients throughout the Portuguese speaking world and in both matured and emerging markets.

The establishment of the MLGTS Legal Circle follows a number of recent developments around the world including the liberalization of the online gambling market in Portugal, recent changes in legislation in Angola and the ever-evolving landscape of Asian jurisdictions.

In Portugal, the practice area will be coordinated by João Alfredo Afonso and Bernardo Azevedo (MLGTS) while Rui Pinto Proença and Liliana Faria (MdME) will be leading the Macau based team. Irina Neves Ferreira (Angola Legal Circle) and Fabrícia de Almeida Henriques (Henriques, Rocha & Associados – Mozambique Legal Circle) will be responsible for the Angola and the Mozambique teams respectively.

“The launching of an international practice in the context of the MLGTS Legal Circle will allow us to pair the specialized knowledge developed in Macau and other Asian markets with the recognized quality of the network’s offices in benefit of our clients,” MdME partner Rui Pinto Proenç explained.
