Meet the God of Gamblers

Written by Yuci Tai

Imagine how exciting it would be to meet the God of Gamblers in Macau. Last week, internationally renowned actor Chow Yun-Fat, fellow leading actor Nicholas Tse, producer Andrew Lau and director Wong Jing together with Chapman To, Hugh Gao, Kimmy Tong, Philip Ng and Meng Yao attended a red carpet event and premiere for the film “From Vegas to Macau” – the fourth instalment in the “God of Gamblers” film series – at The Venetian Macao. Actors from Hong Kong broadcaster TVB also attended the premiere to support the event. The Venetian was the main sponsor of the ceremony and premiere, and several of the film’s scenes were shot on location at The Venetian in September.

Written and directed by renowned Hong Kong director Wong and starring Chow and Tse, “From Vegas to Macau” is a New Year’s film with plenty of funny elements. The storyline centres around Chow’s character Ken and Tse’s character Cool, who uncover an evil plan together with the plot bringing the characters to Macau. Scenes were filmed at some of The Venetian’s most iconic locations, such as the ornate main hotel lobby, one of its luxurious and magnificent Presidential suites, the gaming floor and the outdoor swimming pool area.

A free-admission “From Vegas to Macau” Movie Props Exhibition at the Venetian Theatre foyer is currently on display until 28 January and provides visitors a chance to view a variety of props used in the festive movie for Chinese New Year, including original outfits worn by the four main characters of the movie – Ken, Cool, Lorraine (played by Jing) and Mr Ko (played by Gao).

“From Vegas to Macau” is scheduled for general release in Hong Kong and Macau theatres in time for Chinese New Year on 30 January, so let’s jump into the world of God of Gamblers!
