After successful tournaments in Macau and Auckland the Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) has its next stop at the enchanting island of Cebu in the Philippines. Players will enjoy one of the finest resorts and spas in this part of the world and one lucky player will walk away with a championship title and a life changing amount of money.
Cebu is a province in the south of the Philippines. It is a long narrow island stretching 225km. It is known for its limestone plateaus and its rugged mountain ranges with its highest peak over 1,000 metres above sea level. Its capital is Cebu City which lays claim to being the oldest city in the Philippines. Cebu is well developed and is a main centre of trade, education and industry and it is also one of the hottest tourist attractions in this part of the world.
If fantastic weather, white sandy beaches and an abundance of tropical delights sound up your alley; then Cebu is the place for you. You might want to go diving and check out the marine and coral life. You can sample some of the finest local and international cuisine and check out its rich history including its Spanish heritage. Perhaps lazing on a deck chair sipping on a cocktail by the pool is more your style. The one thing that you definitely want to do is combine all this with some of the hottest poker action on the planet.
Cebu: Hard to resist
The APPT regularly holds tournaments in magnificent locations. The one will be no different, at the fantastic five star Shangri-la Mactan Resort in Cebu from 12 to 15 November. That doesn’t leave you much time to get organised and book your ticket for this trip of a lifetime. The resort has some of the finest restaurants, private access to one of the best beaches in the world and one of the largest and most luxurious spas in the region. There are over 500 rooms set in over 14 hectares of lush tropical greenery.
The APPT has been held in the Philippines before but this will be the first major international poker tournament to be held outside of Manila. With an entry fee around the US$2,000 mark the prize money will be well and truly worth winning, with an estimated prize pool in excess of US$500,000. You can also rest assured that the poker side of things will be world class, with top international tournament director Danny McDonough making sure everything is well run.
How to get there: There are flights to the Philippines from all over Asia. You fly direct to Cebu or you can fly to Manila and transfer from there.
