The Macau Grand Prix Diamond Jubilee Carnival

Written by Yuci Tai

The 60th Macau Grand Prix will be held over two weekends this year, starting on 9 and 10 November and continuing from 14 to 17 November. This year there are 350 competitors from 38 countries and territories. The two weekends and additional races will see an increase in the number of competitors of almost 50 percent over last year’s figure of 221. The highlights are the Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix, FIA World Touring Car Championship – Guia Race of Macau and Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix – 47th Edition. When so many top drivers from around the world gather at the Macau Guia Circuit it certainly makes the audience’s heart rates go up!

A parade of exquisite classic cars and a world-renowned motorcycle stunt rider will add yet more excitement to the prestigious 13-race program. If you have already made a decision to experience the tension of the Grand Prix, finding a good location is icing on the cake. There are three places to see the Grand Prix – the Grand Stand, Lisboa Stand and Reservoir Stand. I prefer the Lisboa Stand because it’s extremely stimulating when the drivers approach the Lisboa Bend at such high speed. This is also the corner where the most accidents happen so there is no shortage of action.

During the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, the festivities are unprecedented. Parades, exhibitions, festivals, carnivals and even a rock festival will bring the high-octane Grand Prix theme to every corner of Macau. In addition, the annual Macau Food Festival will be held from 8 to 24 November, which offers you exotic tastes from across the globe. You might meet the famous Grand Prix drivers there too! The night sky will explode with pyrotechnic kaleidoscopes of color on 10, 13 and 17 November with breath-taking fireworks displays.
