Trump prevails in bookies’ battle of the obvious

Written by Ben Blaschke

The verdict is in from the third US presidential debate … and no, we’re not talking about the fact that Hillary Clinton again emerged a clear winner over adversary Donald Trump.

As WGM wrote yesterday, bookmaker William Hill ran a unique market for UK punters before the debate on which words and phrases would be used by the two candidates.

They included such terms as “Wig/hairline”, “Racist”, “Don’t let a friend vote Trump” and “Basket of deplorables” from Clinton and “Build a wall”, “Make America great again”, “Crooked Hillary” and “Worst secretary of state” from Trump.

The winning results are now in with Trump the most predictable of the two, using five of the 15 terms predicted by William Hill compared with just two from Clinton.

The big winner was “Get’em out” at 20/1, closely followed by Clinton’s “Wikileaks” at 10/1. She also used “Vladamir Putin”, while Trump threw in “Make America Great Again”, “Build a wall”, “Mexicans” and “Tremendous.”

At least it made things interesting!
