We’re turning our attention to the WTA today with the Cincinnati Masters the latest warm-up for the US Open starting in two weeks’ time. Catching our eye is the mouth-watering Round 2 clash between veteran Jelena Jankovic and young gun Madison Keys.
The pair last met in March when Keys looked to be in full control only to fall flat and let Jankovic crawl off the canvas and win in three sets. However, the Serbian commented afterwards that the raw power of Keys had almost proved too much to combat and having played a tough three-setter in her Round 1 match yesterday might struggle to do it all again.
Conversely, Keys blew her opening round opponent away in straight sets and looks well poised to make a statement as the US hard court season nears its crescendo.
