WGM’s Best Weekend Bets: 13 Feb to 15 Feb

Written by Ben Blaschke

It’s All Star weekend in the NBA and today sees a new concept introduced with the NBA Rising Stars Challenge. This game pits the best first and second year players from the USA against the best first and second year players from the rest of the world in what promises to be an intriguing affair. We do like the look of the world side though. These All Star games have traditionally been high scoring affairs and the World team looks much better equipped offensively with Minnesota’s Andrew Wiggins and Bucks giant Giannis Antetokounmpo their trump cards.

The ICC Cricket World Cup starts today with dual hosts Australia and New Zealand both playing their first games of the tournament against England and Sri Lanka respectively. Although we expect both to win, we’re particularly keen on the Kiwis given their recent form on home soil. Consecutive series wins in recent months included a 4-2 result against the Sri Lankans which included a few dominant performances and there is no reason they shouldn’t carry that form into today’s game.

There is also another round of FA Cup games this weekend with Arsenal our pick of the lot. The Gunners have looked very impressive on home soil recently and should be far too classy for Championship side Middlesbrough. Boro shocked fellow EPL big guns Manchester City last start but lifting to that level again is a huge ask.
