WGM’s Best Weekend Bets: Fri 19 to Sun 21 June

Written by Ben Blaschke

The decisive matches of the Copa America start tonight with the fate of every side riding on the results of their third and final group encounters. And what better game to kick things off than Group A-s top of the table clash between hosts Chile and surprise packets Bolivia? These two exciting teams have seen no shortage of goals in their games so far with eight scored and five conceded between them. With neither guaranteed of progressing either, we expect more goals to be scored in this one.

We’re off to Australia on Saturday for a crucial NRL clash between Canterbury and Penrith. The Bulldogs welcome five players back from State of Origin duty for this one but how they pull up is anyone’s guess. They also face a Penrith side that loves a grind and with wet weather predicted we can see this being a low scoring game.

Finally, we’re going to get in nice and early with a particularly early best on this year’s Wimbledon. Back on grass, it’s hard to go past the brilliance of Novak Djokovic and we’re going to put US$30 of our daily US$50 bet on him to win Wimbledon again, but we’re also going to put some of our hard-earned on the great Roger Federer who can never be written off on grass and looks great value at $6.50.
