The Chinese Super League started with a bang last weekend and no side was more impressive than Shanghai Shenhua as they thrashed local rivals Shanghai Shenxin. Shenhua’s strong foreign brigade starred in that win and they will be confident of making it two from two against another opening weekend winner in Guangzhou R&F.
It’s off to Australia on Saturday night for Round 2 of the National Rugby League with North Queensland looking to make amends for a heavy loss against the Sydney Roosters last week when they host Newcastle. The Cowboys have traditionally been slow starters as they showed last week but they have also built a reputation as a lethal unit when playing at home – and that spells bad news for Newcastle despite their tough win over the Warriors last week. North Queensland should have too much class in this one.
Finally, we’ve got another massive clash in the English Premier League as top four aspirants Manchester United and Tottenham face off at Old Trafford. United are clinging precariously to fourth spot on the ladder with three sides sitting just behind and ready to pounce. One of those is Spurs and we like the look of the visitors here. Tottenham have performed well against the other big clubs this season while United continue to drive their fans mad with their inconsistent performances.
