WGM’s Best Weekend Bets: Friday 26 to Sun 28 Feb 2016

We’re going to start this weekend’s tipping previews by jumping ahead to Sunday and the huge Capitol One Cup final between Manchester City and Liverpool. It’s been an eventful season for both clubs so far, with the Reds sacking former manager Brendan Rodgers and bringing in German gun Jürgen Klopp, while City have told Manuel Pellegrini his services won’t be required beyond this season with Pep Guardiola set a piece of silverware with victory on Sunday.

Liverpool have won this competition eight times – more than any other side – but whichever way this one goes we’re tipping a high scoring affair in this one. League Cup finals have typically resulted in goals, with 10 of the past 12 finals having seen at least three goals scored. Likewise, clashes between these sides have also been entertaining affairs. Incredibly, their past four meetings have each resulted in five or more goals while eight of the past nine have seen three or more scored. A game not to be missed!

It’s not all about football this weekend, however. Our man Novak Djokovic was forced to retire with injury from the quarter-finals of ATP Dubai overnight and our focus has now switched to in-form Australian youngster Nick Kyrgios. Having won his first ever ATP event in Marseille last week, Kygrios has continued hiss devastating form with a straight sets win over world number seven Tomas Berdych in their quarter-final clash last night. He faces a tough semi-final against Stanislas Wawrinka tonight but we like the look of him to make it through to a second straight final given his incredible form of late.

Finally, it’s back to the Premier League on Saturday night as league leaders Leicester host Norwich looking to get their campaign back on track following their last-second loss to Arsenal last start. This is a great opportunity for the Foxes, whose main title rivals have been distracted by European commitments during the week, and we’re tipping them to score a crucial win on home soil.
