His results don’t tell the full story, but with the exception of Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg it’s hard to go past rookie Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo as the most impressive performer so far in 2014. He finished second in the Australian GP but was disqualified for fuel irregularities, then had another good finish ruined in Malaysia when his pit crew failed to attach a wheel properly.
The result is that Ricciardo now sits sixth in the drivers’ championship but he should be third and with the speed he has shown so far we think a podium isn’t far away.
