It’s the first match of the five game One Day series between England and Sri Lanka and is also the beginning of a new era for the hosts – or so they hope. After their disastrous Ashes campaign in Australia, they head into this series with a new coach in Peter Moores and a determination to start blooding some fresh young talent.
But that takes time and this Sri Lankan side are specialists in the shorter forms of the game, as evidenced by their historic T20 World Cup win in April. They are at full strength and should be far too strong here.
