The 2014 tennis season is underway with the Hopman Cup in Perth – a unique event in which eight countries are represented by one man and one lady each. A round robin format is in play with the winning team from each group progressing through to the final.
Today sees the sixth-seeded Italy facing off against the seventh-seeded Australian side, but to be honest we find Australia’s lowly seeding to be quite remarkable given they are represented by Sam Stosur and Bernard Tomic. On his day, Tomic can beat anyone and with 2012 US Open champion Stosur alongside him they should be far too strong for the Italian pairing of Flavia Pennetta and Andreas Seppi.
